Part G: conclusion

We concluded that the drastic increase in the activities are affecting the natural environment. The dust from the construction work near the lake would get into the lake and pollute it, causing the water to be murkey and the plants in the water would be affected as they wwould not be able to photosynthesieze and result in dying and if the plants die, the animals that live by eating these plants would start to decrease as it would mnot have food to survive for the rest of the days.

As more activites are available at JLP, the number of people to visit would definately increase. Unless these people are considerate, they are definately a threat to the organisms living in the park. This is because these inconsiderate people would start to throw their litter anywhere in the park or even leaving their litters on the benches in the various shelters. The wind would carry the litters to the lake and the organisms living in the lake would mistake them for food, eating them up and result in dying since would choke from it. The people might also kill the insects living there as they may find them irritating.

Part F

Yes, the drastic increase in activities at Jurong Lake Park (JLP) has disturbed the natural environment and biodiversity there. Since there is an increase in the number of activities held there, such as the consturction sites and the increase of people that goes to JLP as more recreational activities are held there. Having more people visiting JLP is not a bad thing, however, if the people are not being considerate then it is a bad thing. Litters can be found in the lake and on the ground, even under the shelters on the benches! As the number of people that visits JLP increases, we are sure that the number of inconsiderate people would also increase as there is now, a higher chance of people being lazy and choosing to leave their rubbish behind, thinking that the cleaners hired to clean the park would clean them up. The rubbish thrown on land may also get blown away into the lake by the occasional wind there. The animals living there might think that the plastic wrappers that people throw are food, resulting in eating them up and dieing, causing the population to decrease in size.

There was a news on it saying that the amount of fishes that died in JLP has increased. This spreads the news as people are now aware that their actions are causing the animals there to die. They also put up signboards that tells the people the rules and regulations they shave to follow when they are in the park which helps to conserve the animals there by preventing it from the cause of it.

They increase the number of rubbish bins found in the park so that people would not have to walk a far distance to find a rubbish bin to throw their litters in. They also hired some cleaners that helps to clean the place so most of the rubbish would not have a chance to get to the waters before they get thrown away. Signboards are also found that asks the people not to litter.

Part E: Impact of man on Jurong Lake Park

Most of the problems that happened that affected earth are usually caused by man. For example, global warming. We play an important part in conserving the naturally-existing ecosystems as we can kill all the animals in the lake just by littering that most of us always do. Jurong Lake Park can also be a "victim" of our selfishness and laziness since when asked the reason of littering, the answer owuld most likely be : "the rubbish bin is too far" or "it dropped out of my pocket". Most people do not think of the environment and because of their selfish acts, the living organisms in Jurong Lake Park are being affected by the pollutants.

Part D: Tree community (short description)

The tree commuinty includes the living organisms living in or around trees, for example, birds, squirrels abd insects. They live there to get their requirements like food, water, shelter and depend on anything the trees have to enable its survival.

Part B: Intro to Jurong Lake Park

Jurong Lake is a reservoir, contributing to the water supply of the country. It is located beside the Lakeside MRT station. The Jurong Lake Park is built around the lake and serves as a recreational ground for people to have fun or have a jog there while enjoying the scenery at the same time. It is also currently going through a redevelopment plan whereby a new district named Jurong Lake District would be created which consist oftwo precincts, namely, Jurong Gateway and Lakeside.

Part A: Reflection

We have been to Jurong Lake Park before and we noticed a drastic change in the surrounding when we went to Jurong Lake Park together with the class, recently. There were a lot of litters in the lake and it was hard to find animals like birds around but there were still animals like squirrels. However, the trees beautifies and gives the people at the park a peaceful feeling for us to enjoy our time there. We hope that people would be more considerate and think about the animals living at the Jurong Lake Park instead of only ourselves.
